Indian Pipe (the plant in the background)is, actually, not a member of the fungi group. It is, rather, a herbaceous perennial plant but lacks the ability to photosynthesize its own food. It gets nutrition from trees in a parasitic manner. The only reason I know this is because I photographed some Indian Pipe in Vermont a week or two back and looked up the botany of the plant to make sure. I too thought it was fungi of some kind. I like the macro.
