This is my first contest entry here - I thought I'd try a macro of a match lighting, at the point where it ignites the head. This was my best result at the point of ignition, there are a few out-takes that were pleasant to look at, but I didn't feel worked as well for the "Chemistry" theme.

Post actions taken (since everyone seems to put these up):
Import to lightroom, crop, resize and export, unsharp mask in photoshop.

Lit with a small LED torch to bring out detail in the match head.

Cool shot but could have cropped a bit more.

Interesting image and decisive moment. I think that the image right side should be reduced because the image energy is pointed diagonally and to restore the balance and harmony.

A great frozen motion photo, the flame is clearly just igniting and I imagine it took a lot of patience to get this just right and framed correctly. What lets this down though is the focus - its just not crisp enough on the match head for my liking. Good idea though and an unusual way of meeting the challenge. 6.
