It was very kind of this fellow to find his way onto the porch of our rented vacation cottage. And, weirdly enough, the owners conveniently have a dictionary in their lake cottage for odd photographers who visit... I thought at first perhaps it is for the Scrabble game... but ... nahhh... *smile*
I don't have any lights with me on vacation (partly because I don't own any at home either *ha* ), so I used an empty McDonald's cup with a hole torn in the bottom over my on-board flash to highlight the "Chemistry" entry as best as I could.
I'm not expecting this to do really well (but of course, I hope! *smile* ), but I had a lot of fun with the guy.

Post Challenge: The inquiry into why the pencil? The pencil was required since the lizard was dead (and even still pliable! A gross bonus for me...). I needed it to hold his head up for me.

Cool idea. The colors are nice and so is the lighting. |

I like the very subtle highlight to the passage in the dictionary about chemistry but that I think is where this image meeting the challenge ends. I'm not sure of the relevance of the gecko and the pencil - to me they aren't closely related to chemistry and I've been looking at this image for a while now and can't think how they add to your theme and idea.
Technically this is fairly strong, you've obviously got some patience to make the gecko sit still for so long, or a fast shutter :) in any case, its well executed with the exception of cutting off the gecko's tail (but hey they grow back right?!). But because I'm not convinced that your idea is that closely related to chemistry I had to score this down some and give it a 4. |

Cool photo, not sure if it meets the challenge though. Either way, I hope it does well. Great creativity! |

While I'm not sure how much this has to do with 'chemistry' per se (except for the dictionary), it's an engaging, well executed photo |

I should suspend disbelief a bit here, maybe there's just something I'm not getting, but why have you got a lizard looking at a dictionary?
sorry. Good photo though. |

At first I couldn't figure out where the chemistry was in this picture. I am curious to find out what is the relationship between the gecko and the pencil and the fact that they are both in the open page. |

Nice composition, but I thing a slightly lower angle would have shown the lizard off better. |
