Just before starting dinner I took camera to garden and lo and behold I saw my first dragonfly LAND. They've been hovering for days. So. Took a zillion pics, some better poses, but this showed the wings and that funny anterior netted webbing. Any IDers out there? Buttercup amidst horsetail in an unweeded patch.
Slight crop, a few tweaks in Irfanview, some USM, scale, border, and greystoration in the Gimp for noise.
Thanks, MaryO, I gave the site a try, but you have to know more than I do to make it work. There is another site I once got that makes it easier, and you can submit a photo and someone might identify it, but time is of the essence shooting 7 days of wild! |

Fabulous detail and great sharpness. I wish the background was a bit more blurred, but fabulous capture none the less. |

It's really nice that you got the body and wings in the same plane for this shot, which makes it very sharp and nicely focused over the bug's whole body and wings.
The colors in this are marvelous, as is the light. The little glow of fuzz around the body is the finishing touch.

I love taking pictures of dragonflies! I'm glad you got one, because it's too wet here to get any. I really like the nice sharp details of your shot! |

Beautiful detail here. Really nice the way the light is reflecting from those delicate wings. |

Just beautiful! Incredible detail on the wings and markings on its back. If you send your photo to this site, maybe he can identify it for you and might want to use your shot on the site. |

Wow; awesome job! I can almost feel the crackle in the wings.
I know a few species of dragonflies but this is not one of them ;-) You can try this site which has and ID section and lots of photos, but so far all I can tell you is the word Yellow is not in the common name. |

These guys are some of my favorite subjects, but one of the toughest. Every now and then you find one who gives you some love and lets you snap some pics, this would be one of those time! Great detail and lighting in the wings, I have always found it amazing the amount of detail that is in them, well done! |
