Well...you are now on the front page. Sorry your ribbon was delayed. Really enjoyed your entry and I was one of the 70 people to give it a 10. (I don't get the goofs who gave this a 3 or less at all). |

Apologies for mistaking you for jlanoue, although surely it is not an insult. Disappointed of course this didn't ribbon - maybe one day there will be an Astrophotography Challenge. Maybe. Thank you for sharing these at DPC. |

Hi Primoz, my first choice for red has since been (not officially) DQ'd so if it's any consolation my 2nd choice was your image.

Argh! Had I known about this challenge I would've entered!! I was at a star party at a dark sky site on May 31st!!! Ugh!!
Great shot of M16... and thanks to the advanced rules you could stack too! I like the diffraction spikes :)
Have you heard about cloudynights.com? There is a DSLR imaging forum that is quite active. I am a participant there (by my full name) as well. You would be welcome to post there, plus you might pick up a few tips.

This is simply an amazing image, not to take anything away from the top three (of which I'm one) but this deserved to ribbon. I've shot this DSO repeatedly over the years, and due to it's low declination in the southern sky, I have failed repeatedly. Great shot, easily one of the best. |

In astrophotographical terms, this was by far the best.
I'm almost appalled that a score of 7.5+ didn't get a ribbon. You were very unlucky. |

Well, you sure had many of us fooled as to whose image this was!
Astrophotography of deep space is so demanding, polar alignment has to be spot on, super long exposures, usually multiple exposures, fussy focus issues...this is a superb effort and as I'm sure others will say, was fully deserving of front page status. |

Of course, this is beautiful. Probably the challenge blue ribbon. There are some hot pixels, which do not look the same as the stars. The star effect on the shining stars is very nice. Great astronomy. Bumping up a bit. |

8 - Only one person at DPC who produces this 'realm'. As I've said before, 'if only' something could be done to get rid of the noise in the black areas. Otherwise - good discernible depth in the nebula. I like the star 'bursts', but perhaps a slight rotation to get them 'straight'... but I am no astrophotographer.... but you certainly are. Thank you again for bringing these to DPC. |

I've seen better but certainly I've seen worse. For this challenge, I'm thinking this is exactly what they are looking for and I certainly could not do any better or even come close myself. The thing that gets me is for some reason, it looks like a photo of a photo. I doubt anyone would do that though. I think you stand a serious shot at a ribbon and it's most technical photo in the challenge. |
