A bit about the camera I have used.
-The hp was total crap, but it was my first camera (other than a film camera I found in my bookshelf from when I was 12) and altho it corrupted too many of my pictures and was soo slow I missed about half of them, it showed me that I had a knack and love for this... not even sure I selected the right model :p
- Fuji s5000 (they had 5000 pro or 5100, so I chose 5100), It was a great camega. 3mp, a 50% cut from my hp but it was AMAZING, I learnt that megapixels do not matter anywhere nearly as much as speed, lens quality and immagination. I started playing with manual featuers for the first time, and quickly came to figure out how all of this works (I should have read a book... much faster)
- Rebel XT, I camp allot (being in the scouts and all), so hiking, canooing and muchmuch more are part of my regular repertoire of activities. I wanted something faster on startup, easier to manage the manual settings and most importantly of all, better ISO, I love shooting at all times of day and you never know when that great shot might come allong. Torn betwene the d70 and the xt, I went with the xt for its weight, size and 8mp (which will become ironic soon enough). During my two summer up in the arctinc, this little camera served my well, especially when I added a better quality zoom on it on the second year.
- I have just side-graded to a used Nikon D70S, downgrading to 6mp afterall but getting the second dail for manual controll and most importantly the nikon 18-200mm VR lens. I know it is a compromise and will not compare on the far range with my canon EF 70-300mm IS, BUT chaging lenses when an animal comes runing by while I am in a boat is NOT an easy task, especially when the lens is stowed away in a pelican case under the bench.... All and all, it is a sacrefice I am happy to make, I have now sold all of my canon gear (:( byebye) but I am ready to start again with my new, used, nikon. |
