thanks for all your comments, i was quite pleased with the rating :) to reply to a couple of comments:
ssonnentag -- you are kind of right. it's actually not the white balance being off, but a reflection of that aweful pink carpet the previous owners put into our house. that was the only place with decent sunlight at the time. i retook this shot in a different spot many many many times, but still liked this one best.
gracious -- i was just trying to make fun of my coffee drinking habit. but you are absolutely right, i would not trash those mugs.
konador & hbunch -- i know some of it is a little bright, but i liked the high-key approach here better than the original photo (i'll post my outtakes on my website tonight) and it helped me to achieve that nice even background that i'm always so fond of.
gina -- i originally tried this with the mugs only in the trashcan, and decided it needed something to make the photo less stiff. i'll post an outtake w/out the extra mugs on my website tonight so you can see whether you still prefer it w/out the clutter.
count -- thanks, that was quite a compliment :)
aelith -- this is only a small part of my collection ...
seasick & unified_theory -- i must've missed the part of the challenge where it stated it had to be candid garbage ;) |

Somehow my comment wasn't during voting. All the same, I think you should've placed MUCH higher. |

Awesome idea, the over exposure is a great touch resulting in a perfect white background. I can think of nothing that would improve this. Well done. |

Funny shot. One of my favorites this week. My only complaint is the semi-harsh lighting. There are a few blown out spots in the white cups and on the hand. Overall though, the concept is great, nd the angle and framing/cropping are also very nice. Focus is wonderful. Nice shot! Good luck in the challenge. ~hbunch7187~ |

The top half is great, but I'm not too keen on the mugs lying outside the bin. It just makes the shot too cluttered. |

Like the idea. Nice colours. Maybe the background is a little too white (or bright). 9/10
Coffee is trash anyway (can't stand the stuff!) |

I like the high key approach on this photograph... the composition is also very nice! The only minor issue I have here is that the hand and cup at the top are just a little TOO hot.... excellent shot though :) - setzler |

I don't really understand this because of course you don't throw all those mugs away. But you executed the image quite well....there's a lot of stuff I just don't get. Good picture. :-) Good luck! Grayce aka Gracious |

This picture is too staged for me.. I am looking for more 'candid' garbage shots.. Its well thought out, well implemented so I will give you a 6 |
