 Another handheld shot from my hike at Robert Sibley Preserve on Sunday. Don't know what this flower is either, but the tiny purple specks in the grass caught my eye as I topped the ridge and, despite the wind, I just had to put on my macro and grab a few shots.

This is a tiny flower, as you can tell from the blades of grass surrounding it. I was lying prone on the ground with the camera about an inch or so away from the flower to get it as big as I could, and this is still about a 50% crop off the original. This one is at f/6.7 -- I had several at a slower speed and smaller f-stop, but I liked the bokeh on this one the best, even if the foreground petal is a tad oof.

Excellent composition and shaprness for a handheld shot. You could do surgery with a steady hold like this - with some medical background of course ;)

I like the shiny petals and the grass in the foreground for scale. The background bokeh really causes the flower to stand out.

AW! Perfection. A ten out of the gate. Color pop is phenomenal and the sharpness over the entire depth of the flower does wonders to separate it from the background. Bravo!
