I frequently visit Fish Creek Park - its just a short walk from my house. It's very quiet there this time of the year... The river is frozen, and not too many people walk around. These nuthatches come in droves if you leave a bit of seed. It's my favorite thing to do when I need to relax.

I had so much fun shooting for this challenge. This little guy let me approach him very close, and didn't fly away. In fact, I thought he was sick, or stuck... He finally flew away when I reached for his toes. Apparently, he must have been equally interested in me!

I'm not really into birding, but I have watched people who do it and I am AMAZED at all the stuff they know about the birds they are looking for. PLUS, they all whisper - it's like being at a golf match lol. I find that going in search of nature shots is quite peaceful and relaxing, so I understand what you are saying here. This is a beautiful catch - I know that it's so darn hard to get a good shot of little birds. I love seeing it's beautiful colors too.

Nice colors, comp, and focus, but I am having a hard time connecting to the challenge, 6.

We have these nuthatches all over in our back yard, comical to watch. Nice sharp capture

The subject being off center makes the photo more interseting. The colors captured in the bark add to the picture as well.

Looks like a Nuthatch. I love how its little beak is pointing up. Nice detail and light, too. I do tend to find birding peaceful, even joyful when I get a good image of one :-)

Nice bird shot but it doesn't suggest peace to me even with the title.
