I'm guessing that based on the comments, the voters didn't see this as panning. Tough challenge, tough crowd! I think it's well titled - really does look the one is chasing the other one out of its territory.

Not enough sense of motion to make this image exciting. I know that you have to pan in order to get shots like these, but as a voter I was looking for the special effect of panning to create some sort of feeling of motion.

The panning effect is too subtle for me. Try a longer shutter to accentuate the feeling of motion. Nice detail in the wings.

That's a really pretty photograph, but the background isn't really moving with the birds, it's just ripples, though the thought was good
