This is an excellent photo. It's amazing to see what a difference the border makes - it has so much more impact now. I have to say that I also love the artwork on the board - kind of adds a little fun to the photo. Congrats on the top 5! |

Congrats on 5th place. Personally I feel you were robbed of a ribbon. This image was the best of the challenge. It was not crowded by too many frames. It was not too dark or over exposed. It had eye catching appeal with the "coming at you" effect. This is a BLUE ribbon winner in my eyes. |

hey benjamin .. i've just read your comments on this image and i reckon the chair, the lift and the other ppl give the snowboarder an great environment .. often with this sort'v photography there can be elements that dont totally work but its real life and not a setup which adds to its appeal .. perfect number of frames IMO & that border is a master stroke .. i'd say it lifted your score quite a lot ...
i had a look thru this challenge but didnt vote .. i had an image that caused a lot of controversy because the sc said i'd get a dq if i entered it .. they made assumptions about the image that were incorrect and even after further info they didnt retract their opinion .. i could have still entered it but didnt want to risk the dq .. its such a fine line as to wot will be accepted and wot wont with this new time lapse rule .. they said non-linear wasnt time lapse !! .. anyway i'm not saying anything negative about the sc .. they do the best job and a very difficult one i reckon in situations like my image ..
anyway .. like i was saying !!!
i had a look thru this challenge in voting and this one of yours just jumped right out at me !!! ... literally ..
so congratulations on your new pb and a brilliant addition to your portfolio .. it looks just fantastic on your profile page .. :) |

Congrats on the HM. You mentioned the chair but I would have thought making the subject appear to be popping out of the frame would be risky. Might have to try that kind of border. |

I'm only goin to be harsh because I love this one!!
Clone out the chair, clone out the dudes just sitting / standing around ... then you have a blue ribby on this.
I keep looking at the dude in the background that it staring at me .. saying -- why am I here?? - that what I'm asking! ;)
Excellent choice in breaking the frame in the foreground. 7 |

There is way too much going on in this photo. Too many distractions in the background...the chair, the other people, the lift. |

There's no stopping him, jumped out of the frame. Boring old farts like me see only a real cool time and money waster, but it's a great sequence capture and you got the snow right too :-) |

The concept of this is great. I love how the boarder is jumping out of the frame. What would have made this a ten shot would be the absense of all of the distracting things in the background. The chair, the other boarders, and the lift all distract from the main subject. The other thing is that the shot appears slightly underexposed. The snow is gray instead of a pure white. |

Nice touch with the border, its not often people submit an image using that technique but it complements the image subject well. Positions of the snow boarder are consistent which others have failed to achieve so well done for that. |

Great perspective and good selection of frames to use. Same complaint I have as with some of the other shots though - too many 'frames' and it gets a bit too busy. Some space between the slices would really make this stand out and accentuate what is happening rather than presenting a mish mash of poses. |

Can't vote on it because it's a teammate vote, but i love this photo. As a snowboarder, i can appreciate the difficulty in capturing this just right. I also like how you have the snowboard practically jumping out of the picture. the on thing i would say is that you have slightly too many frames in there. you probably could have delete one of the first two frames where he is approaching the jump. |
