 With a little time to waste before my band went on stage, I drove around the countryside of St-Sauveur, Qc. While looking for a good place to take a shot of the ski hill, I found myself driving up a steep road, in a residential area. I found this little peacefull place, and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

30 second exposure on my tripod.

Shot in RAW: used Tungsten WB and added .5 exposure.

In PS7: crop, levels, saturation. Neatimaged. BAck to PS for USM and Gaussian blur, then converted to LAB, and worked on levels on the brightness channel. Back to NI one more time. PS for resize and border.

Very peaceful place.

this is such a crisp and inviting shot, the exposure is ecellent, but not sure it could be recognized as silence w/o title

Great to capture the moonlight and the artificial houselight so well. I like the red, white and blue colour graduation.

A lot of ideas were repeated over and over in this challenge. I have been seeing a cabin in the woods, a cabin in the snow, a house in the night, ect. This however is well enough done that it becomes THE cabin in the woods. It sings a common song so well that it makes the song it's own. The use of red foreground light to balance out the blue of the night sky , and the blown out lamp repeated in the blown out moon, create a still balance that make this a special shot.

Good idea, but the moon could have been captured better. Also, obviously making it so bright made the lamp very bright, which a bit distracting. Two focal points in a photo is confusing to the viewer. Also, I wish the edges of the house were more defined and detailed.
