 thank you for all the comments (27!) on this photo. I'm not a huge fan of self-portraits but I enjoyed doing this. Taken from my fire escape, i stood in for 10 out of 15 seconds of exposure for the effect.

Yes, its pretty much the same image as what i submitted for 'Perspective', as some have noted. That was an accident, i wasn't sure which i wanted to submit and then i came home for the holidays and forgot to unsubmit one. I hope that didn't tick too many people off.

In any case, I'm happy with how this did and really appreciate all the comments and faves

Great idea. I guess that the smoker jumped into the frame on a long exposure to appear invisible.

The "ghost" adds a final element, but the scene itself is perfect - a great representation of this facet of city life. Excellent technicals and visually facinating to study. 9

Interesting ghost-like effect of a semi-transparent smoker who perhaps has to hide to light up (and who hastens his journey toward death by doing so). I hope you reveal how you accomplished this.

Interesting viewpoint of the city, a tiny corner, up on a fire escape balcony, having a quick smoke, whilst the rest of the city bustles by below.
