Black and White, there are many auto commercials that eliminate colors in their ads, mostly Caddy ones. I cropped this as much as I can to exclude other parked cars behind it. The snow was falling lightly and helps add texture to this. Black and white is a good choice for a black car and the snow helps bring out its lines. I didn't really do any editing except dodge the rims and burn some slightly overexposed snow.

I owned 4 Cadillacs in my life, and this one here, unfortunately is not one of them.

Hello from the Critique Club:

Since I couldn’t vote in this challenge, this is the first time I’ve had a chance to look at your image. My first impression of this image was “Nice shot”. You went with the traditional low perspective/wide angle look used in car ads and it worked well in this image. For me, the crop is a little tight in this image and from reading your notes, I understand why. You received a lot of good comments during the challenge that point out the little things that kept this image from scoring in the 6’s. Since this wasn’t your car, there wasn’t much you could do with the car to give it that polished car ad feel. Keep shooting and good luck in future challenges.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.

Tim

Nice perspective. I think the fence in the background adds quite nicely.

Good composition, I like the B7W work... I even like the leafs on the ground. But the snow is killing this photo :/

Defy the Elements while being covered by the elements! These are beautiful cars.

Nice shot, and great use of B+W. The Caddy may be sleeping, but it looks poised to tackle the weather. 7

Nice concept. Really beautiful car - that grill is just killer! I am not convinced about the snow on the car - the concept may have worked better with a clean car on a blanket of snow to show how it is defying the elements.

Quite a dull BW conversion, but good angle. I am thinking ina real car ad, they may of shown the car without a sprinkling of snow/frost to show it is `untouchable` in cold weather. Otherwise quite a good shot.

good b/w conversion to bring out the snow. snow and leaves support your title.

This is a good shot but I think it would look even better if all the leaves weren't on the ground and the fence went all the way across the BG.

Nice angular lines to the car and good title for the shot, but the crop feels a little too tight

Nicely done. I can think of nothing I would do to make this better. I like it on multip[le levels and I think your choices were spot on across the board. 9

really nice. Angle, frost, B&W and the surround.. i think i like everything in the shot. Maybe car could be just a wee bit more shiny(IMO)

I don't think this shot really has the right tones to work well as a BW. Maybe a partial desat would work better. There's a lot of clutter her with the snow and the leaves that detracts.

crop is too tight IMO. good b/w tones. good POV. lighting is too harsh.

Nice car. Great B&W conversion and interesting angle for a technically good shoot. The only nit pick I have is that the car looks like it just has been parked while it snowed. Given your title I would like to see some more evidence of that defiance. IMHO -6-
