The Franklin Conservatory in Columbus , OH featured Dale Chihuly's blown glass sculptures throughout their gardens. In the butterfly exhibit, someone pointed out the only butterfly in the exhibit that landed on a glass sculpture. Took the shot from a distance of about twenty feet focusing on the butterfly.
Cropped it for desired effect, cloned out the hot spots on the glass and darkened the background, adjusted saturation, resized for the web, unmasked for sharpness, made some minor touch ups, auto adjusted for color one more time then compared it to the original.

The butterfly isn't prominent enough to be the subject. Otherwise its a great looking shot.

too much glass, not enough butterfly!

I like the color and graceful curves in this. I think, though, that if you wanted the butterfly to be the main part of the picture, it needed to have a bit more room in the frame. I almost missed it.

How is this mundane?

This is very busy and almost hard to look at. My eye tries to find a place to rest, but can't with all the chaotic lines. The butterfly doesn't seem to be quite enough of an anchor to give this a focal point. I am not sure what is supposed to be mundane either....

interisting pic, you lose focus on the butterfly and your vision wonders around too much

Too much glass and not enought butterfly. Neither of which are mundane, although I think the glass extraordinary.

I think I`ve taken more time over this image than any other that I`ve looked at since joining DPC. It`s so fascinating.
Could this ever have been called mundane ?
Och, my head hurts trying to work it out :) Great picture regardless.....9
