I saw the slanted light in our spare bedroom, and I thought of a line from Desert Places, by Robert Frost, "and night falling fast, oh, fast", only I falsely remembered it as "light falling fast, oh, fast". But I figured I'd better go with a title that more closely explains the kind of closing I'm illustrating.
I did not convert this a duotone - that's the actual colors. Actually, I did not do much post-processing - just some USM and a tiny bit of levels. I don't know why I'm bothering to comment, like anyone is going to care about this photo. But I like it, and I hope at least someone else does, too.
Here's the poem:
Snow falling and night falling fast, oh, fast
In a field I looked into going past,
And the ground almost covered smooth in snow,
But a few weeds and stubble showing last.
The woods around it have it—it is theirs.
All animals are smothered in their lairs.
I am too absent-spirited to count;
The loneliness includes me unawares.
And lonely as it is, that loneliness
Will be more lonely ere it will be less—
A blanker whiteness of benighted snow
With no expression, nothing to express.
They cannot scare me with their empty spaces
Between stars—on stars where no human race is.
I have it in me so much nearer home
To scare myself with my own desert places.

Very nice image that uses shadows well to convey the end of the day. It feels like it wants to be a great picture (possibly a ribbon winner) but that somehow something doesnt quite work. Having thought about this I just wonder whether the chair makes the frame slightly cluttered and whether it would have been better without it.
Beautiful lighting throughout this photograph. I love the highlights of the blinds on the curtain and how they are diffused on the dresser. Very strong shot.
