 I went to the local zoo to take photos. It's a privately run zoo and rather awful. I took a whole lot of shots of the giraffes chewing.
Nothing in this photo is actually sharply in focus (except for the sky... ;-Þ). There's movement blur as well as DOF blur. Uncropped, lots of Adjust Sharpness, levels.

This photo also fits the requirement of the Boring Mediocre Challenge punishment ... Mouth of an Animal.


I think the DNMC voters will have a field day in both the Opening and Closing Challenges.

I wish the DOF was greater. In a perfect world you would have his entire head as crisp as the hairs on his front lip!

Wow - very close! I like how the soft blue background complements the soft yellow tones of the fur. Cute picture!

What an interesting shot. Unusual angle, with a high level of detail. And there's something rather catchy about how the bokeh draws you in.

I like the tight composition. And the detail is great. However I would have preferred some S-curve adjustment to make the color pop out more.

Been looking at this for a while wondering whether it works in terms of the challenge for me (as a photo its good) and have decided that it does as for a still photo you have captured the very essence of the giraffe moving/closing its mouth to eat love the choice of dof. Bump to 8
