 This was a fun challenge to do, and this idea came into my head when this "Fast Food" challenge was announced. I brought some yunmmy Iced Doughnuts, and froze them, until I got everything ready for the shoot. Also frozen ones were so much easier to handle.

I brought a white canvas artist square canvas board for the base. I also shopped for some extra yummy pink musk or fruit sticks. I was extra lucky, as they not only had packets of pink ones, but also mixed colored ones as well. My search for crosses was also over, as I could use the pink musk sticks for the framing, and the green musk sticks for the crosses.

All I had to do now was to set it all up. This is the end result, and I was pretty pleased with myself.

I shot this in the raw format. In raw, I played with Curve Levels, by moving Custom Curve, to make the whites brighter. In photoshop I also dodged the background white, without going to far. I then reduced the whites to white, with selective color, in adjustments, but not much. Otherwise normal processing for the rest. I finished the processing by cloning some small spots & marks away, and also some uneven edges on the musk sticks.

I then added a border to match the pink musk sticks. I then reduced the size, and saved for web. I think this would make a great advertisement, for mouth watering iced doughnuts. O,ne could also play Naughts & Crosses, that is if one doesn't eat them first.

Thanks heaps for the wonderful comments and votes, that has given me my best score to date, and finally reached a 7+.

PS; A lot of people have asked why I have only three crosses and six doughnuts. It wasn't suppose to be a real game, and did it deliberately to make one ask the question, which many have asked, and also for artistic balance. It was also suppose to be an advertisment image.

By the way to answer all your questions.....

YES, we did eat and enjoyed the doughnuts, and also LOVED the pink & green, Musk lollie sticks, as I haven't had them, since I was at school.
Totally YUMMY.....

And here you were thinking of retiring, silly woman! a 7+ score!!! You do realize that probably 98% of DPC'ers will never see a 7+ score. You do very good work - don't doubt yourself!

Good one. Good idea, good layout, very good light control. If I'd had to poin out a "nitpick" or two, (1) I am not sure about the border, it matches, but it's almost too much of a good thing; (2) I really wish the donut at bottom were not cut off (and maybe just a touch more space by the one in middle right). ~9

Had you just slightly toned down the saturation or brightness or contrast (sorry, I can't figure out which is making my eyes hurt), then I wouldv'e voted this a ten. As is, you get 9. I really like the idea and composition a lot.

I love this image... bright/beautifully done/well lit image such a fancy border however I think detracts from the actualy photograph you took... and don't think it was the best choice I guess I'm not big on adding things in photoshop. Anyway. -9- (moved you up from a seven on second pass.)
