I don't get it. Now - I know it's not a top 20 because it lacks imagination, but spot-on focus, no blow-outs (over exposures), a uniformly-colored dark background, obviously meets the challenge. And it's bottom 5%?? Check out the photos 15-25 spots above this - out of focus, confusing elements, overexposed, camera shake, obvious use of photo manipulation software...blah, blah, blah. I'm done with faking "studio" shots.
That said, I really do appreciate the comments - well, most of them

I think this picture would have looked a lot better with a light source other than camera flash. I try to never use my camera flash, just not much for the light spectrum it provides. This is, of course, my opinion. |

One thing, for me, has spoiled this picture and it would be easy to put it right. This very funny monkey has a great texture. It makes what could have been an ordinary soft toy "special" BUT the background which has the right colour to bring out his colour is too shiny. It is competing with his "sparkliness/glitter". Such a small thing. Try reshooting it with a similar colour cloth but non-reflective. I hope you think it makes a difference |

Lighting is a little harsh and you cut off the poor monkeys foot or is that his tail? Poor little monkey... :) |

Light is a bit bright, background a bit distracting. He looks like a sweet well loved friend. Perhaps a close up of his face with subtler lighting, a study of the textures of the fur and the eyes. |
