After this image, it is a little difficult to look at some of the other images, both in this contest & others posted this week. It's rather like comparing Renoir to an artist selling his first canvas on a street corner.
Okay, maybe an unfair comparison, but my point is that you have changed the precedent for this site. At least, my paradigm of "editing" has been shifted ... my expectations of ribbon winners has been raised.
In short... you rock my world!!! =) |

The great thing about this image is, it wll be referred back to countless times if there is any doubt over whether a photo is legal in expert or not, this has many elements that may generally be regarded as breaking the rules, the fact it has scored so well and been allowed by SC will certainly set a precedent in future expert editing challenges.. so well done on another level as well. |

I SO agree with you, Simms! I've been lobbying DP's SC to use the same software that they use for "buddy voting" on this type of thing! I also feel that if there were stronger "voter's qualifications" that might help keep the Trolls at bay!
This was one darned great piece of work and those low scores just dampened the score it truly deserved! |

Congratulations on your blue ribbon. I was one of your 53 9's. You may wonder why I held back from the 10, it is only that to me the final result seemed more like illustration than photograpy, so that I couldn't bring myself to give it a 10. Beautiful job, nonetheless. I strongly suspected this would win the challenge (as it did).

I do like the image as-is. I gave it an 8. But I do think that it might have been improved by focusing on the face and hand more. There is so much emotion in the face and showing more detail there with a tighter crop, and getting rid of the extraneous, sort of fake looking torso, might have helped some. But like I said, I do like it. :-) |

Beautiful, artistic, emotive, unreal. Really nicely done. Love that single touch of colour and natural life in the butterfly. |

This is amazing, it looks like something from the final scene of a movie. You have not only created a photo that fits the challenge, you have conveyed emotion, well done. A definite 10 from me and I hope this is the winner.
I usually give a couple of 10's per challenge but this photo is so much better than all the rest that I cannot justify giving any other photo a 10 except this one. |

This incredibly elegent! I wonder what you used for the different parts because it looks almost like a painting. I love the dynamic between the colored butterfly and the eye color. This is just unbelievable composition. |

Oh geez - now here we have something obsolutely wonderful is 218 ways. I love it all - looking for flaws â€Â¦ not really seeing any - the enormous size of the being here is great - great background- love the desat for timelessness- the eyes are great which is always important- the seams between body and limbs are clever and subtle enough - I love the hairess character which gives a futuristic, more androgenous feeling which is always futuristic (man and woman willl look similar in the future ;P) â€Â¦ oh, here's some super picky stuff: the tear could be more prominant I suppose - and the head slightly bigger and slightly more perfect along with the butterfly (could be bigger). The skin could be better Those are the parts keeping it below 10 â€Â¦ so you get an 8. |
