 Not a flower

This is the inside of an oak gall, a growth that is formed by wasp hormones injected into an oak leaf - the larvae then develop inside.

What a great note of information. Now after 65 years I now know those strange things that grow on oak leaves aren't alien pods after all. No joke, great info. I will share with my grand-kids.
