 This old lady was sitting on a bench on front of her house doing her crochet work and had this lovely look on her face. I had to do this picture pretty quickly in order to capture her pensive expression, so I only noticed afterwards that could (should?) have used a smaller aperture.... oh well, you live and learn.

Oh Wow! Thanks so much for the votes and comments. This is like a miracle for me because photographing people is not really my thing (although I’m working on it) and I’m actually terrified of photographing people I don’t know.

stunning - almost looks posed, but I believe you shot candid. Hope the other voters are giving you the benefit of the doubt. Challenge descriptions seem to be more a club to beat people with anymore, so I'm afraid for you. :-)

What a gorgeous candid, superb subject and great expression/timing. The composition isn't amazing though, I'd have placed her more to the left. Currently, you have a lot of space in the left side of the photo which doesn't serve much purpose. Also, try not to chop off people's elbows if you have most of it in the frame. I wish her right hand was sharper.
