Challenge: Painting With Light III (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D100

Aperture: f8.0

Ah, so here we are again :-)
Yes, another guitar pic. What can I say? I love 'em.
So this is my old custom Robin, with the WWII plane graphics. The concept of course, is the guitar(plane) flying through the night. (more on the 'starry' night/background in a moment)
I am concerned that this may not be a blatantly 'obvious' painting with light type shot. No clever light trails, or anything like that. But it is very much painting with light. Set up the guitar on a stool with black sheets on the wall, floor and stool. Shot in bulb mode, all lights in the room off, totally in the dark. Used a standard house flashlight and 'painted' around the guitar during the long exposure.
Now, when I opened up the pics in ps, I found, much to my dismay and horror, a whole galaxy of hot pixels from the long exposure! I even sent in a ticket to sc, saying, I know it is legal to clone out dust/hot pixels, but is it ok if there are like a ton and a half of them? I was told yes, there is no limit on dust/hot pixels :-) So away I go, eradicating the little nasties. But then I got to thinking about it, especially since club jugglehad told me that I had a "galaxy of hot pixels", they do kind of look like stars. So, I went with it :-) What do you think? Does it kind of look like it is flying through a starry night? Hopefully, I don't get a bunch of comments saying "Oh man, you should of cloned out all those hot pixels, that looks like crap!" I guess as always, we shall see :-)
In ps- cropped, cloned out hot pixels on body, auto color, levels, curves, curves, selective color, hue/sat, curves again, resized, smart sharpen, usm, levels, ni, sfw
thanks for checking out my pic :-)

Really cool, interesting background. But the black streak is a distraction.

Good shot. Wonder what's with the dark stripe on the guitar. Would have been really nice to get some backlight on the very end of the handle (is there a technical term for it? the grip?) that gets lost in the darkness.

This is great! Flyin' through space in a GTR. Perfect lighting and perfect clarity. Superb choice of composition. One of my favorites.
