Interesting comment - I must presume that therefore this is not, in the end, interesting. The 'story and history' could be anything ... but the story and history I've tried to add to this ... isn't that a different matter? |

There are clearly seven imbeciles roaming this site who gave this shot a 1 or 2. Please disregard the votes. This is a great photograph. I gave it a good rating, but after seeing it again I should have gone even higher . Very nice! |

Fortunately, the popular vote cannot do a thing to diminish the integrity of a worthy image. Also, IMO, the score does reflect some degree of appreciation of this capture.

The well-chosen allegorical title contributes both story and flair to this simple, historical still life.
The very edges of the fork handles appear a little dark on my monitor (despite the 1.8 Gamma/Apple CRT), while the chosen depth of field renders the hotel name precisely and legibly. |

This is an amzing shot! I just love the composition. And the levels are spot on. I find it difficult to create impact using simple objects and you succeeded well here. The choice of a shallow DOF brings you back to try and read the engraving. Great shot! 9 |

This reminds me of the helmet of Sauron (LotR). :)
Nice composition, good lighting, good toning. |

Why such a short depth of field? I think the abstract composition would work better with the whole subject in focus. |

Love these old forks. Great light, composition and detail throughout. A slight reflective board bouncing some light back to the front would, in my opinion, made this a top shot! 9 -danny |
