Great idea! If only the tip were in focus too...

A good macro photo can make you look at familiar objects in a new way, and you have done that very well. The wood grain texture, the shiny gold - who would have thunk there was so much visual interest in a common pencil.

Subjectively not a compelling photo for me. Nice lighting; would like to have seen a little more of a dynamic composition.

Very nice Idea, but I would have liked it a little betterh with a bigger depth of field and more focus

Interesting use of DOF to really bring our focus to one area of the image. Good capture of textures that one might not normally notice. I like the tight crop and angled composition too.

It is a matter of personal taste but maybe the DoF is just a bit too shallow?

This is really nice. I like the way you have softened the focus for all other parts of the photo other than the pencil point. Used the aperture to achieve this I'm guessing. Nice effect. Good luck with the challenge!
