 my white backround, is a very cold freezer that i leaned up against *brrr*. this is my first challenge in a few weeks, and i doubt it will do well, but at least i can learn something from it. :) (btw, you can't tell from the shots i took, but the tie and nipple ring match) XD

Obviously a very provocative photo, and one that is good for all of us to experience. Technically it's not too sound (IMO) but that's not always important. Keep taking pictures that your mind and heart tell you to, that's what it's about, not a score.

I think that this would have done better if it weren't for that title. It makes a viewer kinda uncomfortable ;-) It's a fine, thoughtful pose and ties are indeed silky smooth. The shadow is definitely funky but it's interesting the way it makes you look like a cutout. The tones and colors here make for a good, natural-looking portrait. Keep shooting and keep up the humor - just don't scare us with our own thoughts anymore, ok? ;-)

Very harsh shadow. Stepping away from the wall helps eliminate that I hear.

Hard shadow against the wall is distracting, making the model look like a cut-out.

I like the overall composition.

Not clear though on what message the models expression is supposed to convey to the viewer.

I'm also not fond on the shadow on the wall - it's a bit of a distraction.

FYI, men in various stages of undress don't do very well at DPC (trust me, I tried...it's my lowest scorer but has the most views and comments)...

But I like to see them. So practice the lighting and keep 'em coming! :P

Good idea and the pose works well too, but the harsh shadows on the wall ruin the effect for me. If you use on-camera flash for portraits like this then you have to either light the background separately (do drown the shadows) or have the model stand so far in front of the background that the flash doesn't reach.

outch the shadow kills. Use a bounce flash or place fine tissue over the flash to soften. Well that is of course it is was not intentional.

I would have recommended just cropping to above the nose because the head cast a shadow on the wall behind. Your subject should be standing at least 6 feet if not 8 feet away from the backdrop to prevent shadows. Also, a little directional light to the background only would have also calmed down the shadow.

harsh lighting really hurts this ... consider moving your subject about 4-6 feet away from the wall to avoid the hard shadows ...
