The flash is a photo killer.

Lighting seems a bit harsh... better off with bounce light or diffusion?

not sure the lighting fully compliments your shot

If you want your pictures on DPC rated higher i would recommend a white or black bacground for shots like this. The cream and whip fit well with the foreground, but the countertop and such are distractions.

Good concept, but the lighting is a bit strong and the cream container in the background draws your attention away from the subject.

I think the flash probably ruined the atmosphere in this pic.

A shallower depth of field and better angle could have brought more out of the subject imo.

lighting is too harsh, composition not very appealing.

lots of potential here but the camera-mounted flash is unkind, gets too much glare off the pie plate in front (also oof) and an almost oily sheen to the chocolate. a closer crop would likely have worked better too, the whisk and double cream detract. Still very good idea, just get more dof and in closer. Lots of chocolate in this challenge, look at similar pics. good luck! :-)

this looks delicious, but it's a little blurry and the background is distracting.nice take on the challenge though!

Never use your pop up flash, go to strobist.com and learn how to use off camera lighting, it would add so much to this pic

on camera flash produces harsh shadows and makes the image look flat. If you can use light from side, it would be better

this is a nice idea but looks like a rushed shot and is really let down by the background
