Glad to get the story behind this one. Feel a bit foolish for not recognizing that as a fish, but at least I wasn't the only one who thought it resembled a dinosaur. Interesting that the bird was an accident, too, but it does fit your "story." Even without as obvious an example of the literal challenge topic as was found in many entries, I thought this one might do better. I like it a lot. |

Cool photo, but I'm not getting the connection to the challenge. Nothing personal, just don't see it. Sorry. Did I mention this is an interesting photo? :) Good luck in the challenge. |

interesting photo. the water almost looks like oil. the fish(?) looks like a dinosaur. im having a little hard time with the overexposure, but it also hides alot of details and make the photo more abstract from reality.
its a very strange picture with life and death . it shows that everything will be washed away by time. |

Interesting, I'm trying to figure out how it meets the challenge, amazing ?reflection? Only can give a 5 since I can't see how it meets the challenge though.

I'm not entirely sure how this applies to the topic, but I'm really impressed with this shot. What *is* that, a Coelocanth? The bird shadow is an interesting touch. |

interesting take on the challenge. the shadow of the gull is very cool. a little less light in the background would have helped the photo IMO. however i think you got the point across just fine. |

Parallel lines? Vanishing point? |

dnmc This seems washed out to me and it is difficult to see any perspective let alone vanishing point.
Foreground is good and I like the head but it kinda falls apart from there for me.
I may have missed any nuance that may be at play - sorry |

I can see how the concept of the term "vanishing point" works with the image but not the photographic concept of vanishing point which is what the challenge was all about - no parallel lines in this one, even tho it is a rather nice shot :( |

I assume this is an alternative take on the concept of vanishing, and I like the creativity. The "shadow" in the corner confuses me a bit. Appears to be a bird...a nod to the title? To the bird/dinosaur connection? I can't imagine it's an accident, as it would've been easy to crop out. Or maybe I'm way off base with everything I'm thinking. Either way, this is the first picture that I've really wised I could know the story behind and hear its meaning explained. |
