This is a beautifully composed, beautifully executed black and white photo.

It doesn't scream childhood to me, but I am sure it does to you. Won't affect my score any.... The verticality of the masts could have been emphasized more, and the picture is a little dark and without detial at the bottom...

This probably invokes more memories for me than it will for most. I spent many summers sailing from docks just like this one. It's a pleasant well don't picture. The angles of the masts relative to the pilings catches the viewers attention. The large white sky is a little bland. Is it blown out? Maybe a different time of day, with clouds? Or in color with a sunset/sunrise? 8.

Good strong image, nice use of B&W.

Cara 'r arfer chan ddua & gwynnwy 'ma , ag 'r gorwel yn lladd 'r ddelw 'n agos i mewn hanner. 'r rigging ydy bit jagged , namyn a s 'n debygol o achos 'r chywasgedd. 8

I like the use of black & white here, with the horizon cutting the image nearly in half. The rigging is a bit jagged, but that's probably due to the compression. 8

This definately does not portray childhood in my life, but I think you did an excelent job of showing that it DOES depict childhood in your life. Everyone's childhood is different and I can picture a little kid out on one of these boats with his/her Dad learning everything to do. The angle you chose is great. Black and white works really nicely here and although #1 is a bit dark on the side, the shadows to the left are a wonderful touch. Great shot and good luck in the challenge.

great composition...sky might be a tad too washed out though. Lisa

Good thematic image. better if bow of upper left vessel was absent

with the title it could be the boat or the ocean as your first love, or sailing? Its up to the viewer to decide. I like that a lot.
great focus and comp. 8

great perspective ..well suited for black and white

I'd like to see the front tips of all the identical boats.
Nice strong verticals and diagonals and I like the tiny sailboat out on the water.

This is a beautiful photo... I love the triangulation created by the lines here... This is also an excellent black and white... I can definitely see this photo mounted and framed :) - 10 - jmsetzler

This picture doesn't remind me of childhood, because I wasn't raised close to a big body of water, but I can easely imagine it. I chose it between my favorites because it's a beautifull, very well composed image.

I like all the lines in this photo. I think the B&W makes it even better. I would like to see it in color if possible. 8.

Nice lines. I like the choice of black and white. It doesn't always add to a photo, but I think it probably does here. I also like the repetition of form. 7 (would have been an 8-9, but it doesn't say childhood to me without the title, and even with, I feel it's a stretch), just-married

nice strong symmetry, which I always like. Good choice for B&W, too.

It's interesting that this doesn't say "childhood" to ME at all, but it certainly does to my husband ! Wonderful shot - love the b&w. lhall (9)

This is a part of my childhood. I love this. I like that you were able to capture the entire mast, and I like how the sky just goes away - great detail (works well as a Black/White too). "8" Good Luck - Gotcha

Great shot. I love the composition with the strong diagonals. The title gives context and tells me this was an important part of your childhood. Nicely done. -ClubJuggle.
