I'm perusing and critiquing archive DPC street photography challenges to learn more about composition. Please email me responses to my comment if you like.
All too typical urban street scene. For me, the dog sells the photo. He's expressing more gratitude than his companion imo.
Good composition, although maybe you cropped the husband's butt a little too tightly.

Not much time for voting or commenting lately, but I can't let this one go. This is where a picture is worth a thousand words. And made me glad. Thank you. |

Hannes, this image should have won a ribbon in my opinion...underrated. It tells a story from every person's (and the dog's) perspective...awesome image |

good capture of a moment. Lots of directional energy going to the point of contact, which is also the point of exchange, the point of charity. 9 |

This is such a sweet and touching image. A beautiful moment captured. I'm not keen on some of the technicals of the shot but who cares - it's not like you were in a studio where all was within your control! Back to bump you up to 9 for making me FEEL the moment. |

I love the composition and balance of light. The image speaks volumes of the reality of life, as unfortunate as it is. |

This might be just another homeless person picture except for the inclusion of the good samaritans, but it's the dog looking up at them that really makes this work. Nicely done. |

Wonderful capture, both in that it shows kindness on the streets and the harshness of city life. The dog looking up adds to the story this shot tells. Its one of those images you could sit and look at and wonder about. Great street photography! |

I donĂ¢€™t have much knowledge on street photography but my thoughts on you shot are as follows: I like this shot as it's not just a shot of a destitute man. Having the people give money (I think) to him shows that society still cares and I love the dog in the pcit as well. This is a lovely shot. 10 |

GREAT! What a meaningful image. Adding to my faverinnees ... hwao - just saw the dog - I don't know how I missed it . .. perhaps that broke the ice with these people meeting. |

Conveys emotion very nicely. The poor dog's like, "got anything for me?" |

This photo is so emotional! It's the loyal dog by the homeless guy's side, and its deep expression on his face as he looks at their guests -- I think that's what makes this photo so outstanding. What a moment you captured. 10 |

If it's candid, this is a really great capture. Still works just as well as an image if it's a setup, though obviously not so much amazement on me on the fortuitous/ well planned capture itself. Lots to look at and love the dog's expression too. |

Oh wow, this is great work. The exposure and the b/w conversion are stellar. The interaction of the subjects is fabulous. I don't agree with the inclusion of that much wall on the right side of the photo and think it would be better to crop it just behind the post, but that is a nit-pick. Even so, I'm one of your 10s and predict I'll have a lot of company there. Congrats on an outstanding shot. |

Very nice. This has all of the elements to make for some POW in the shot: emotion, movement and the human mixed with the urban. The dog's expression sends it over the edge for me. Bravo. |
