I'm perusing and critiquing archive DPC street photography challenges to learn more about composition. Please email me respond to my comment if you like.

Love the geography, the textures and the monochrome.

That's pretty funny. Great capture. And congrats on 4th place! Too bad you just missed the ribbon. I can sympathize with you, 'cuz I got fourth place in the Candid III challenge.

:)...i like it

I've looked at this three times now. Other than the obvious - the gentlemen's expressions and stances, what adds immensely to this for me is the head in the window, and for some reason, the fur coats hanging there. Intriguing and engaging.

I like this one a lot. the opposite hands to their mouths, and the balance of it all.

a nice old world feel to it and the coordinated expressions on the models adds such a wonderful twist to it

good shot~

just bumped to 9 although there is something about the colours that don't sit right for me. other than that I love it the slight fall in the ground to the right makes the elder gent look even smaller.

If this was called Steptoe & Son(UK Program from the 70's) it would be great,
nice photo but i wish the people here could be a little sharper
02/21/2007 09:22:14 PM
Great moment. Their mirrored postures and expressions make this image.

Very funny!! the top sign states: "talk to us". Great caption, seems to be a little out of focus

Can't quite figure out if there is an uneasy peace or a comfortable one between these two men. The composition and b&w conversion are great. Very good!

Lots of 'feel' to this shot, I feel like I'm standing across the street watching them. Great the way their body language mirrors each other. 8

LOVE this!
Defines street photography in my eye with the photographer as the invisible witness and strong narrative.
Well done
gorgeous tonal values as well 9

I love the gritty feel of this photo. There they are standing right next to each other but couldn't be farther apart if they tried. I think this is excellent street photography.

Love the way their postures mirror each other just a little with their hands up to their mouths. Lots to look at, very interesting and good composition too. Like the high contrast black and white with nice toning applied. Seems a touch oversharpened to me.

WONDERFUL. This has that urban/human combination that I think is essential in street photography. Great tones. The juxtaposition between the two men is really symbolic: tall, short; young, old; head of hair, bald. The list goes on and on. Bravo.
