 Per suggestion, the black bottom is cropped and I really feel it gives more balance.

Yep, this is better. Now the black part acts as a border to push the eye upward instead of dominating the scene.

Really like the balance of the reworked image. The clouds and sky color contrasted with the peaks is very inspiring.
