Spent all of Sunday working with models at a local B&B, hoping to improve our portfolio, and this beautiful young woman has done exactly that...

After: First, I'd better thank Mrs. Ross for being such an understanding and supportive wife! Not only did she allow me to do this, she worked her butt off the entire day of this shoot, right along with me.

I had hoped to at least land in the top 10%, and it feels really good to finally see vote-worthy improvements to my work. Thanks everyone!

Gorgeous work and model. She kind of looks like Pamela Anderson in her younger days.

My first time seeing this, Billy - You hit the target with this one and in an always tightly competitive and often sensitive challenge! Congrats - I haven't really noticed the progressive improvement but mainly because I've always been impressed with your work.

Great job!

very nice. so many people used black and white this really stands out. the composition is nice as well as the set up.

I love the textures, the perspective, and the composition. Great image.

Great composition, and a fun shot. I know the bubbles on the breasts were probably intended for the sake of modesty, but for me they actually work to make the shot less artistic and more men's magazine.

skin tones and hair color came out nice. Bubbles look unnaturally placed

Wow! Beautiful model, great pose, spot on lighting, great composition, love the background!!! That is all.

This was a great shot but the bubbles look placed. Should have filled the bath a bit more or something. Pity.

interesting perspective, the brick is an odd addition, i dont know if i like it or not but its definitely its own power in this picture haha if that makes any sense. Even just tonaly its odd because eveything else feels so calm and soft and they BLAM!! just a patch of hard brick. good work overall though.

Its the crop / framing of the subject matter that gives me pause.. someone explained to me how hard it is to get a good bathtub from above shot and still have it appear artistic.. Model of course is very beautiful but would have perhaps gotten a higher score from me if it were framed differently.. the entire tub, different angle maybe.. still very well done.

sorry but this seems to have a pornish aspect to it, no offence to you or the model, she is very beautiful. The composition is pretty good, colors are spot on but it just has a certain feel to it. Perhaps B&W would help this, and not such a 90% angle.

Nice image. I like the crop and the lighting seems to be very even and soft. Beautiful model.
If I was to be really critical I'd say the bubbles on the breasts look too artificially placed there. Well done. Bumping it to 8

love the composition here, not too fond about her breasts and the foam on it, it looks a bit staged like this (now I know it's staged, but,.. well, you know what I mean, right?)

sweet lighting and attention to details.

I don't know if this is DrJOnes, but it could certainly pass for his work. One of my two 10s this time around. Way to go!

Beautiful model, the postprocessing is well done. I like, how you covered her body. The structures in the left (wall and floor) are too distracting IMHO. Additional I'm not sure about the composition.

Very nice job on lighting and exposure. Lovely model, and a pleasing image to view. I wonder though, if it might be better rotated vertically, or maybe even just flipped 180. I say this because I just get this uncomfortable feeling, like she might 'fall out' or something. Maybe it is even just how she is looking down in this framing.

nice. she looks pissed off! feels a bit disorientating to me. still like it though! 8

Very interesting image and good idea but the expression on the models face is extremely off putting. She doesn't look interested at all.The lighting is also a little flat, just my humble opinion :o)

excellent color, good pose and dreamy expression. nor sure about the POV, I think the combination of wall and floor patterns is rather distracting. her head is too close to the wall from this angle. had cprobably chose a POV from straighter above.

01/29/2007 08:52:53 PM
This could of been made so much more interesting if a different angle had of been used perhaps? With saying that, the exposure and skin tone is nice.

This shot is very very good. The lighting, the model, the colors, everything.....Except the suds you used to cover the breasts looks out of place (a little forced). I think you could have used a little more bubble bath and bring the level of the foam up enough to do this and have it look a little more natural. Other than one minor technicality, you rocked this picture!

My favorite of this challenge. When most go for B&W, or 'convenient' shadows, you have made great use of colors, patterns, and a beautiful model. Well done. 10

I love this because of the contrast in shapes and texture..speaking of the wall and the floor..It adds a lot to the picture in my opinion. Nicely done.

Um has a penthouse look about her qite a confusing image for me the foam on the breasts come on a little OOT but the image has a slick commercial feel which has its place, somewhere 8

Pretty model and lovely balanced lighting - I'm not sure about the 'head' end of the picture - it ends up (for me) a bit cluttered with the wall, floor, and end of the bath.

Interesting angle, and tastefully done. The colors, textures, and composition are really nice. Well done, but not a perfect 10, because something about it doesn't make me say "WOW!"

Superb model. This is a classic case of a great model and setup, but with poor lighting and use of DOF. Suggestions: use only one key light, very narrow (with grid) to create a mood on in the shot. Maybe add a second light, very dimmed, to backlight the hair. Shoot with F4 to try and get the floor and part of the brick wall blurred to bring more attention to the model and bathtub. Good luck!

Not sure...but if Ms Lee were not holding the glass up, she would look like a body in a classic bath murder detective story...it's something to do with the head angle and lack of eye contact..? can't quite describe it.

she looks like a super model and your technicals look pretty good, wish it were lit a tad more and that the bubbles on her boobs weren't so out of place looking, but the brick wall along with the perspective and pose are great, 8

Great idea for this shot. The busy tile floor is a little distracting to me and could maybe be avoided with a smooth white cloth. The composition feels a little heavy on the left side. Otherwise great focus and smooth lighting.

i have yet to find a way to shoot someone in the bathtub and have it NOT be somewhat disorienting. That said, the technicals in this image are excellent, and the concept and model make it a very appealing image. nicely done :)

We need a nice deep tub like that...though IMHO, the model comes across too Playboyish instead of artsy.

Consider re-shooting after wetting the model's hair.
