I must admit that I have a hard time scoring this photo objectively. To me it's so sad to see these chicken caged in these poor conditions. Is your photo an approach to make a statement for ethical treatment of animals?

| Absolutely one of the funniest pictures this week! I don't imagine the chickens would have taken to flash pictures, but it's too bad there couldn't have been more light for a better DOF. Great imagination. |

| Too funny. The chicken in front seems to be saying "what the??" LOL. Were you in an actual chicken farm to get this photo? The lighting is good. It gets a bit dark to the back, but it's not your fault, and it's not distracting, so it doesn't really matter. Definatley original. Didnt see any other chickens on here. LOL. Great job and good luck with the challenge. |

Haven't I seen this chicken image before, in a previous dp challenge???? The title is cute but I find the pencil here very contrived and was just put there to meet the challenge. Very nice dof. 4 Journey
Update: Thanks for your PM. I wasn't implying that the exact same image had been posted here before. However I did some further checking and I was wrong on that. Apologies for that. I guess we do have different definitions about creativity. |

Hmmm. This made me laugh but it's another photo where I am thinking that the subject is linked to pencils just by bunging one into the picture. It's inclusion doesn't visually add to the photograph for me. For making me laugh on first viewing it's score gets bumped up, but subsequent viewings mean I am just looking at the photo. Feel free to think of me as a humourless old so and so! ;)

Ok...The pencil looks so out of place that it is somewhat humorous. :)
The pencil doesn't appear to be in focus nor do the majority of the chickens. |

| I personally did not care for this photo, but my husband wants a poster of it. He says I just don't understand good high-brow humor. I originally scored this very low, but since my husband's not voting this week, I give you the 8 he wants you to have. |

Meets Challenge Theme:yep
Technical :ok...but at the top of the image is something distracting that I can't identify that seems to be overexposed. That could have been eliminated by framing a bit differently.
Composition:ok
Creativity:certainly unique! :-)
Visual Appeal to me:Well...I don't like seeing chickens so overcrowded together

| Funny subversion of the challenge, though the actual photo could be better. Seems like the bright opening in the back threw off the exposure metering and made the rest too dark. |

| This is not what I'd pictured when I thought Pencil, but you did make me laugh out loud! The pencil is a little blurred and the chickens in the distance get pretty dark and grainy, but I still like this shot, just for it's out of place outrageousness! I'm even going to to give you an 8, for the humor of it all. Swash |

| One of the more interesting and original shots this week. I would liked to see a sharper focus on the pencil and maybe a lower angle, but I like the photo. |
