 After the challenge began, and after receiving a comment from Cutter, I realized that I should have called this 'Caveat Emptor'. Frankly, that title would have better fit what I wanted - the actual title here was the result of a sleepy mind and a late entry. Oh well...it doesn't change the photo, does it?

This was taken while waiting to get into the Vatican this May. It was hot, and these guys were selling knock-off purses. Most all of my potential entries come from this one day of tourism. Who knew that Rome was beautiful?

Processing here is light. This is the full crop, and the color was slightly boosted to emphasize the heat of the day. Also, I made the closest merchant's eyes whiter.

Really cool candid though I'm feeling there is too much negative space on the upper left. A landscape crop may have focused more attention on the expressions without the distraction of the other elements. Good luck!

Good use of DOF. With all the bright color and instense expressions it would be hard to kow what to focus on. The sharpness of the man in the foreground and the decorative pole leading your eye to him makes the shot "pop" - the men in the background serve nicely to reinforce the main characters expression - making you wonder what their situation is - they don't seem at ease with the situation. Love that bright orange wall!

and there are a lot of them! we were hassled beyond comprehension...and isn't it amazing how quick their getaway is when the polizia come along?

Strong colours, strong image, determined pose...would have liked to have seen the whole of his right hand to balane the composition 7

I don't think he liked getting his picture taken! A bit heavy int he red tones, light is harsh.

Best: Raw, DOF, without title it could have been something much more menacing
Worst: A bit too contrasty with high sun...it makes the subject less accessible..
