Why is this p hoto my best of 2006? For a couple of reasons. 1) It's a photo that i feel gives an editorial feel to a portrait, something i've only been able to do once all year. 2) It's a photo of my little sister. I took her out for Xmas and gave her a nice little photoshoot since she is starting modeling. Basically the photo is just special to me. I already know what aspects everyone will point out (like the bottom lip being covered by her knee), but I see those aspects as adding to the editorial feel.

Post Processing: (Let's hope I remember correctly)
Whitened they eye whites (hue/sat)
Removed a mole above her eye and blended
Added Contrast
Made a duplicate copy and set the brightness really high
Copied duplicate back into original and used multiply blending layer option
New Adjustment layer (channel Mixer)
Clicked Monochrome and adjusted red and green to my liking.

I love her eyes, but the crop is too tight - the top of her head is cut off :(.

I'm sure someone will point this out, but it looks to me as though you have front focused on this one... The eyes are a bit soft. I'm not including that in my vote as this pic isn't about focus.

I was actually a bit surprised when I saw the title indicating that this is a girl. I realize that you were going for thirds on the eyes and mouth, but the hairline and mouth are obscured so that the femininity is difficult to see.

Nicely done B&W conversion btw.

Beautiful girl, nice shot and conversion, but Im not quite sold on the knee in front of her... just down a bit and this would have been really fantastic,

B&W tones are great but her knees take up way too much of the photo and really detract from what is otherwise a nicely shot portrait.
