Challenge: Still Life (Classic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Kitchen
Date: Nov 2, 2003
Aperture: 11
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1 sec.
Galleries: Humorous, Still Life
Date Uploaded: Nov 2, 2003

After all, we're all just vegetables at heart.

Shooting details; Shot was set up under 250 watts of daylight florescent on a white Formica Kitchen Island. Tripod was a Bogen 3051 with a Bogen 3047 head. No flash.

After shooting was complete, I ended up with 30 or so useable frames with apertures ranging from f3.5 to f11 and shutters ranging from 1/60 to 1 second. My rampant and sporadic methods of "all over the place bracketing ™," gave me plenty of variety on depth of field, color depth and sharpness.

The final selection ended up being 4 shots, all very close except the exposures and apertures. Three made it past the initial conversion from raw and crop, two made it into the finals and the one you see I used.

This shot originally had three beginnings, three ideas based on the title concept, but only one outcome. Two ideas depicted similar formulas, but there can be only one. The “Mother” subject originally was short and plump, possibly a bit darker red with a few natural wrinkles and was in the first 11 or so shots, but then I saw the bending over babe with nice smooth skin and perfect color. She won over my heart and ended up on all remaining frames and was subsequently chosen to be my final image model.

Ha ha ha - I like this a lot - it's nice to see an image with a silly story to it - which can be discerned without the title and still find the photo visually appealing to boot.

hahah! funny. the surrogate mother looks like she's perspiring! cropping a bit odd, but i suppose that is because of technicalities. :o)

Cute idea. The white crib provides the setting without distracting from the image; good choice.

I love how it looks like the pepper is bending over the small tomato. The only thing I can think of to improve the shot would be to have all the tomatoes' stems pointing up.

Nice work. I reckon, wouldn't it better if you capture the whole capsicum and the white subject? (just my opinion)

Cute idea. Made me laugh a little. Good composition but the whites are a little too blown out resulting in loss of detail in the crib.

unique idea, I think there is too much empty space in the bottom left corner, you could have shown more of the tiny crib perhapns.
nice, bright colors and focus is good.
I think its the composition that is throwing me off .. I feel it could be arranged to look better. Good job :)

WAY COOL IDEA! It really seems like the big pepper is looking down at that tiny tomato. This is the most imaginative shot of the lot.
