Such clarity. If I didn't know better I'd think he was sitting right in front of me.

I love this photo so much! The haunting quality of it is 3-dimensional -- in every way!

Excellent portrait. I want to jump into it and find out his story.

Nice story-telling portrait. The model and garb both provide excellent interest. 9.

Excellent light and excellent moment to hit the shutter. I'd rather that the focus were on the eyes instead of the nose but that's just nitpicking. What I have a real issue with is the framing. That's to say that even though I appreciate the sense of intimacy provided by such tight framing on the face, personally I'd like to see a more "environmental" approach so as to place the person and the photo's message/story in a [wider] context. I assume, judging by the clothing -particularly the headgear-, that he's an Afghan man, and I really think that showing more of his environment, or at least showing a bit more of him, would have strengthen even further what is already quite a powerful photograph in its own right.

oh i like this a lot. would have liked a little more light on his eyes, but the shadows add a little mystery and a solemn mood. love the shallow DOF.

I love the character that is so strong in this shot - almost feels like a candid. Great light & shadow. Very nicely done. Back to bump you up to 9.

Brilliant. ONe of the best of the challenge. I love the eyes, the glance, and the use of the fabric of the scarf. Great lighting, composition and crop. Looks like something you'd see in LIFE magazine.
