Hey, I have that head! (well, 2 actually...) and I have the 503 which I like a lot more. I also have a Cartoni, which cost more than it's worth, IMHO but the carbon fiber legs make up for the less than stellar head... Kudos for putting a decent lens on that XL2, I have the original XL1 which still gets used! Not much though since I have an HVX-200 at work...

Good luck - came back to add more to my comment & bump you up a notch. Criticisms: I would have used more diffusion on your key to soften the shadows & flagged/scrimmed off the area hitting the white of the camera to help bring some detail back there. A back light would have been great to add a little bit of modeling to all that black plastic. Believe it or not, I actually think the red velvet is hurting you quite a bit here, but that's probably my own personal taste... To me the worst is the hard shadows.

Good luck - you'll probably beat my entry which ended up being a last minute snap-shot (after abandoning my other shot which took almost 2 hours to light & set-up - lol).

Of all the shots in this challenge that purport to say "I'm a photographer", this one works best so far.

This is pretty fun, but, it seems the camera should be facing the model? However, if it was a behind the scence type of image. maybe if the model was behind the camera as in operating it? Hmmm.
