I've been a bit busy, so I didn't see these new comments until now. I'm glad a lot of people liked this. I took a lot of photos as my boyfriend kneaded the dough (yeah, he's in every second one of my photos, I know :/). I tried lots of different angles, I got him to make fists, to pick up the dough and slap it down, etc. In the end this shot had the least amount of problems while still having some nice motion blur, which I intentionally wanted to capture. I don't like the edge of the bench either, but it was difficult to get nice photos from other angles, since there wasn't much space to set up the lights. I also wished there was more dough showing in this shot, but it's all about compromise. |

This was in my top ten for the week. I am surprised it didn't place higher. The motion is great, as are the colors. The texture the flour creates is terrific. This is a photo you can feel. Job well done. |

I thought this would rank higher. I like the idea. Maybe a different angle would have worked better. The edge of the counter bothered me. Trying an angle from above could have prevented that or taking a shot from the front with a white apron in the background might have worked. Nice job. |

Creative idea, more so than many this week! The motion blur works well, just a shame we can't see a bit more of the dough... and those hairy arms look familiar ;o) Gets a 9 from me - Manic - |

I love the "splat" effect. This is a very creative idea. I wish we could see a bit more of the actual dough, but I'm not sure if that might take away from something, so I would have to see the 2 different shots before I could really judge that for sure. Lighting and angle are good. There are a few slightly out of focus spots, but I think that only contributes to the "splat-ness" More like motion blur instead of just plain ol blur, so it works. Great job and good luck with the challenge. |

Last day of the judging & I finally get around to making a comment. The action in this picture is very powerful. |

Good subject. Focus is a bit soft on the non-moving parts of the field. |

This is a great photo... the 'chaotic' sense given by the motion blur and the flour on the table surface shows nice action in this photo. good work :) = 9 - jmsetzler |

mmmm....new pizza...Can you have it delivered to my house too? :) Artistically this is good, it meets the challenge and is original. One complaint is that it has slight motion blur. I'm not sure if you meant to blur it and I'm not sure if i would have liked a perfectly in focus shot better but it's certainly something to take a look at. |

Great idea and composition. It would have been nicer if the hands were still other than in motion. |

Nice capture. You can just feel the strength in those hands. |

the blurred arms take away from the photo, I think. |

Interesting photo. I think I would have liked it a bit more at a faster shutter speed (or a slower cook). |

The blurred movement is distracting. The color contrasts and the concept are good. |

I like the blur to show forceful motion. |

I wouldn't mind the action being blurred, but it seems like the whole picture is kind of fuzzy. Nice concept, though. |

Oh the movement in this shot is great! I can FEEL the pounding and hear that dough thudding against the surface. I don't like the wooden table edge - would be nice if the dark table top bled into the darkness behind. I'd also like to see a little little bit higher - could maybe move the camera viewpoint to the left just a little too. Fab! Can I have some of the bread? 7, Kavey |

great action! i think a bigger dough ball might be more dramatic...possible frame so the edge of the counter isn't visible. good idea 7 Lisa |
