Oh man, I love this stuff! I like the formal arrangement for something that is not really all that formal--nice idea for contrast to get our attention. Was this taken with a flash? If so, you might want to experiment with natural light. Nothing is moving, so you could even do a long exposure. Better yet, set this up outside on a sunny day--but in solid shade, and you'll get brightness, natural colors, and a generally more sophisticated look to things. Note the bright spots on the spoon, plate, and other items and also note the harsh shadows behind things. This is what a flash does. So have fun and experiment! Then send me some of that dip! |

The presentation is good, albeit fairly standard, and the dish itself looks quite tasty. I like that the accompanying dishes also seem to match the theme. The only change I could possibly see would be to change the lighting a little more to enhance a mood. This seems to have a very even light. |

The lighting is dark and the overall photo isn't very exciting. A diffeent angle would probably help. |

A tighter shot of the plate and less props would have helped. |

The lighting here is not very flattering. Must be an on cam flash.. the shadows are not very visible but they are harsh. |

Yum. I love Tex Mex! Lighting and Focus are good, but the image as a whole is a bit "busy" with too many items. The flowers top center and the condiment tray are somewhat distracting. Meets the challenge well. 6 |

This will be one I come back to find out the recipe, I love this stuff! :) As for the shot, too many things going on at once and it pulls away from the main object, the food. I think the formal setting for the Tex=Mex is a bit much, something much more casual would have really worked with this shot and a bottle of tequila! ;) The lighting is also a bit off, too bright in the center and to dark on the upper corners. An 8 overall from me. |

Your place settings are gorgeous. The picture brings them - and the dip - out nicely. I hope I get to see the recipe when the results are posted. |

Great set up, I like how it gets all aspects in the photo without it feeling busy or crammed. Nice space. I do wish though the food had more presence than it does, I think it was lost due to the perspective the photo was taken from. I would've also liked the whole presentation to be brighter - with the nice feeling of space, comes a need imo for greater light depth. Other than those points I think its a very good photo. 7 |

Looks good. It seems though as you could have used a bit more lighting. Seems a slight bit dark. However, the advantage is not having any bright spots on the metal and glass, except for the spoon. The angle bothers me a little bit. Only cause it's not symetrical. The plate is slightly to the left of the tablecloth, and the outline of the edge of the table is also not even at the bottom of the photo. You have a nice set up though, and definately looks delicious. I wonder how a close up would look for this food? Nice cookin. ~Heather~ |

I may have tried getting nice & close to the main dish, rather than attempt the entire setting. Actually, I think I would have enjoyed seeing the dish a lot closer -- it's probably something I would enjoy eating! I also would have tried to avoid using the flash (at least it appears that a flash was used here). The flash brings out bright spots in the fork, the top & bottom of the dish, the spoon, etc. Try using a tripod with a long exposure -- the results provide for much better lighting. |

I like the arrangement, however a lower camera angle and some different lighting would have made it more interesting |
