This image definately meets the challenge, but I think the use of the flash at night really hurts this image. Also, it doesn't use the rule of thirds, which (while it's not a hard, fast rule - there are definately times it should be broken) might have helped the composition here. |

This could have some potential but I think the harsh flash kind of killed the mood of the scene. |

harsh direct flash is the obvious lighting here and it looks like a quickie snapshot. at least IMO it meets the challenge! |

Yes, it meets the challenge, but not much image appeal IMO. Depending on the background, maybe you could have a shot the fence silhouetted against the sky as the sun was rising or setting? |

For such a stark image, the subject is very subtle. I had to look a couple times before I realized what my perspective was. I find myself trying hard to like this, but my eye keeps wandering off the right side of the picture into that big expanse of darkness. Technically quite well done, though. |

Good concept. Lighting seems a little harsh but I suspect that's just what lighting was at the gate? Perhaps more of a close-u on the lock? 6 |

Have seen a few with this theme in the challenge so far. Yours is better than some, not quite as sharp as one other. In this case I think it's the lighting and overall composition. Sorry for the comparison. Don't usually do that... The light source is creating some glare from the lock which is distracting (lock/chain is the main subject here). Perhaps the composition could be a little tighter? All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

nice, but flash effect does not help this. if the light had been coming from the left, cross light...bingo! but there is an annoying flash glare on the fence...just MY opinion! |

game venue or prison? What is there to suggest that a game has just been played? |
