No cables needed here. Had a flashlight shining through the bulb from the back left (just outside the frame) and a mirror reflecting the light from front right. The glow was enhanced with shadows/highlights in PS.

AlllllRiiiiightttt. Very cool. I don't know how you lit that bulb up, but who cares. I like this picture a lot. This is one of the few photos I've seen in which absolute black doesn't take away from the composition, but, rather, adds to it.
