Gorgeous.
I don't really mind the unusual placement of the bird leaving the image. Graphically, the arrow-like shape of the bird in an outer corner makes for dynamic composition. The texture (wings and body) appears somewhat (deliberately?) oversharpened, adding a proliferated contrast to the given tedium of the water. |

| I like the shades of gray of his feathers, and I think you used his flying out of the picture to your advantage by making her so extreme in the corner. |

| Very cool, detailed photo! Love everything about this, except the framing. You might lose some points for it. If possible, you should have the bird in the opposite corner, so the viewer has the feel of seeing what the bird is seeing (or at least in that same direction). I'm not going to "nick" you any points for it, as I realize this would have been an extremely difficult shot. 10 Rob the Swash |

| Cropping isn't right... The extreme motion of the bird's direction makes it feel like the cropping should be opposite (with the bird in the upper right corner). |

| I think the cropping works well for this one. Usually you'd want more space in front of the subject, but this emphasizes the action you mention in the title, as if he is rushing forward to catch a fish. 8 |

| Wow swooping in for the kill. Slight in the head gives a good sense of motion and the diving of the bird. Beautiful sharp contrast helps the detailed bird pop out of the background. Great capture. |

| i don't know why you chose to crop this picture this way, i think in cases like this, the bird would look better entering the frame from the upper right corner, rather than leaving the lower left corner |

| I'm not sure I like the composition of this photo. I'd prefer to see where he is flying as opposed to where he came from. Still a great capture of the bird though. |

| great focus and light. although you might not have been able to do this, i would have cropped the top and right and left more water visible down and to the left (ie: the direction he is heading). |
