8 - Like the composition and the elements in this, especially the mushrooms/toadstools/fungii. Perhaps a slightly tighter crop, especially at the top, may have made this even better, not sure. Would also liked to have seen a little more detail and definition in the mantis, including texture. Like to see more of that 'mushroom' too, but that is likely 'another image'. edit:to add comments

There are 2 very strong elements here that compete for attention. My eye keeps going back and forth between the the Mushroom and the Mantis and I find it hard to focus.

Neat shot, the little guy seems to be posing for the camera and the mushrooms fix him in place.

I find myself waiting for a Gary Larsen caption.

wow, stunning macro...not sure if the mushroom is a distraction from the main subject, but this is a wonderful image

The background makes this look like a fairytale. I like the focus on the head, but wonder if it would be better to have the entire body in focus.

The DOF was probably your intent but I think having a little bit more of the mantis in focus would be a little better; specifically in the 'arm' area. Other than that I think this is a great shot; you have good colors, good layout (though that first shroom may be a little dominant (towering) over your subject, and I can tell you put forth a lot of effort on it. Nice work.

Nice capture. I would have liked to have seen it with a little more DoF.
