Taken at Hervey Bay Queensland, Australia. Bird is nesting in a palm tree outside my back door. taken in the middle of the day. Lighting was very harsh.

Love how those bold and vibrant yellow and blue colors of the bird visually 'pop' off from the dull colored surroundings. That is where the strength of this composition lies, that and the curve/sweep of the two leaves that seem to cradle this bird between them. I think the visual impact would be stronger if you did a tighter crop where just the bird and the sweep of the two leaves dominate the scene. Get closer to your subject because when you do, you give your viewer an up close & personal view of something that they might not be able to get a closer look at in his/her part of the world.

Some thoughts:

-WOW! what a pretty bird! I've never seen one of those
-I think I would have cropped this a bit tighter in order to put more emphasis on the texture and colors of the feathers
-Love the expression
