 I found Steve in Rebecca and Aaron's Rose Garden!

Thanks to everyone for the great comments. This fun challenge was my highest photo to date.

I got my idea from the recent Bump 'n Jump photo by De Sousa wherein he used a photo of the goldfish.

I simply printed a 8x10 of the 'missing photographer' poster. I used scissors and cut Steve's face out. Then my sister held onto the cutout positioning it as if Steve was 'smelling the roses'.

There was so much discussion regarding what was and wasn't allowed in this challenge, I was afraid I may have been breaking some literal art rule (steve's profile) although I don't 'think' I did as it is not in its original state (different angle, its cutout-not in original state, etc.)

I did not trim close enough in some spots leaving a white spot, but left it as is, again afraid of my misinterpreting what would be allowed to fix.

I am actually glad that I was asked for validation, as it confirmed that I did not create a Photoshop composite.

Steve, Thank you so very much for your detailed comments. Although it appeared photoshopped, your tips on correction will assist me in future editing processes. But most importantly, I'm glad you are home safe and such a good sport letting us have fun with this topic.

Yeah... yeah... that is what I was doing. Smelling the roses. Yup, that was it all right. :)
The way you included the image of the "lost photographer" from the side and behind the foreground rosebud was nicely done. You composed the image well.
Challenges like this gives us a chance to do blends like that of the face with the flowers. DPC does not often provide those opportunities and we need to practice those things in order to make them look natural.
This looks like a composite, but I thought that was not allowed for the challenge. I'm curious to know how you accomplished it. Anyway, in a strait composite I would have brought in the whole face image in, pasted it into its own layer, rotated it to be correct and then used a mask to block out upwanted background as a non-destructive editing technique. That makes it easy to adjust later for the few remaining spots around the far eyebrow and a couple other small places where there is still a bit to much white that you missed. They can be taken care of with cloning too but the non-destructive method is better since it lets you bring back things you cut out and is easier to recover with.
If you have Photoshop you can further apply its lighting perspective feature to match the angle of lighting with the flowers on the face layer and with a little brightness, maybe a little sharpness matching and some slight color correction you can make an exact match with the flowers that will fool anyone. - Steve

the pose seems unnatural to me. as does the lighting. somehting with more warmth would have worked much better for the feeling you're trying to evoke.

Hey! No fair! ;) I was wondering if one of the Arizonians was going to manage to get Steve for the shot. :) I like the concept of the shot and think it is very fitting of this challenge, as I imagine that spending that time wandering through the desert must have really put things in perspective for Steve. Sometimes we all just need a reminder to take a deep breath and appreciate what we have.
