Good perspective, needs better focus though. |

Well done on the tone! I like this one a lot. Really portrays the leather-look of a dog's nose. I might have cropped out the out of focus rug in the bottom 15% of the photo. |

INteresting texture but the dog nose lacks focus. There are a few things that could improve this. I think that raising the camera up off the floor a bit and shooting at a more downward angle would improve the depth of field focus issue here. I don' tknow what camera was used on this shot, but some cameras dont work as well at close range as others. If this is the case, you need to back up from the subject a little as well... = 6 - jmsetzler |

The more I look at this..the more I like it. Seems a bit blurry to me but I like the angle it's taken at. I also like the color of the photo. 7 kdjohnson |

Very interesting - I like it, technically great photo. I think the focus, composition and angle are great. I really like the silvery aspect of this photo. Excellent work. Ruthann |

nice texture but the angle of the nose is wierd, i think the frame should be moved up so as to focus less on the carpet and more on the nose and dog itself. |

Please tell me what kind of dog this is. The muzzle so resembles our wirehaired doxie! What a FUZZY picture (in the best way possible!) Lighting is great. I like the crop. I like the picture. period. |

Composition4 Originality7 Technical Aspects5 Meets Challenge7 Total Score6
For those that are just learning, like me.
Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.
Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.
Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.
Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.
There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.
Good luck!

Nice B/W shot. A little more focus on the nose would have been great. |

i really do love the texture of dogs' noses. black and white works very nicely for this shot. I might try a different composition, though. maybe try to highlight the interesting contours of the dog's nose, because you don't really need teh carpet in there. |

Dognosses--needs more attention to focus. |

I think the actual nose bit could have been sharper (focus that is, not physically) could you have just shown the nose or does your camera not do macro that close. |

looking at the carpet, your DOF seems to be very narrow, just a little more if possible (it may not be with the macro shot) would be nice. the dog's nose is such a great idea for texture, but it is too dark. short of making the dog move (never works), would there have been a way of changing the lighting so that the texture of the nose became more visible? -- gr8photos (4) |

A bit blurry, a tad distracting, but love the combination of textures of his nose, hair and the rug. Nice shot overall. |
