a jail cell door? SG was right when he commented that this site lacks creative thinking....many people feel trapped in their own homes, if you'd had a bit more time I'd say this shot would be awesome. |

There is a scene in the movie Toy Story which almost exactly follows this theme; Woody sees that Syd (their tormentor) has left the door ajar a crack and shouts "Buzz [Lightyear]! The Door! We're Free!"
Shooting a jail cell door ajar might make the interpretation more obvious, but your use of grainy darkness accomplishes much the same purpose. Well done! |

This is a good idea. The door could be a little lighter since it looks like a crack is in the wall. Good contrasts and use of black and white. |

With no disrespect intended whatsoever to all the patriotic 9/11 inspired entries which give thought to that tragedy, I am pleased to see this alternative interpretation of the challenge theme. I love the simplicity of the shot and the choice of such dark shadows, whilst initially something I wasn't sure about, has grown on me - this makes me think of childhood nights... wide awake when I should have been asleep and longing for the freedom to join the lively adult conversation downstairs. |

A nice stark image, but that border really kills the effect. I won't vote it down for it this time though!! [8] |

I really like this shot. I would have liked to see just a little bit more detail in the door though. The light coming through is excellent. 9 |

Excellent! Great concept, people need to remember this freedom more often. Brilliantly composed, great use of contrast and b&w. Love the beam of light at the bottom of the frame. Great crop. The border is very effective. My favourite picture, and only 10 this challenge. |

Very interesting picture. Great lighting in the picture . It's very vivid and clear. Love the lighting that you captured behind the door. Love the details of it and the reflection off the doorknob.
The contrast of the piece gives it a very graphic look. Very nice. |
