A Study of Form and Curves ;)
Royal York Crescent, Clifton, Bristol Reputed to be the longest crescent in Europe...
Late Georgian in design the building was started in 1701 but was not completed until 1820.
...However with such a great name I am not complaining ....
I took a number of shots of this Crescent, landscape, portrait, shots with groups, some with no people, some with people coming to camera and some of people, as in this walking away.
Of all the shots this was the composition that seemed to work best for me, the girl is facing into the shot and seems to draw us around the curve, the colour of her clothing lends itself to the simple tonal colouring of the shot.
The predominant colour of the shot is white but the hints of pastel colours adds interest around the crescent helping to draw the eye from front to back.
The shadows of the doorways and windows create interesting lines through the whole image, whilst the lines from the Balcony and railings and roof help draw the eye around the crescent.
I have a similar shot with somebody facing the camera but the image is not as powerful, so I have plumped for this option….
I hope you all enjoy..
I Forgot to record my workflow
and now have a mental block but I think, In RAW played around with Saturation Exposure Brightness and contrast before working using colour adjustment in CS2.

odd to see you and arnit getting underrated! this is clearly about lines. the lines created by the balconies and fences become so numerous and intense that the representational image threatens to fall apart into a pile of lines. |

Nice color flowing out of the white of the building. The tree makes the image come to a closure. |
